Broomstones Curling Club is pleased to offer free Live Scoring to all USCA clubs! With Live Scoring, you can "broadcast" curling matches over the internet so that spectators can enjoy watching your matches through their web browsers.
In order to broadcast games, you need internet access at your club, and you need a laptop for each sheet -- either a PC or a Mac.
And of course a volunteer for each sheet to record each game.
The game is recorded in a web browser using a drag-and-drop interface. After a stone is thrown, drag the stone in the browser window to the stone's resting location. When you click the Send Data button, the update is visible in the spectators' browsers within seconds.
You have the option of also showing the specific called shots by dragging skips that represent a Guard, Draw, Tap-Up, or Take Out onto the sheet. You can also include color commentary to provide extra details.
The spectators sit back and watch the match unfold. If a spectator joins a game
already in progress, they can choose to watch the live action, or they can
start from the beginning of the game and catch up. They can also watch recorded games that are already over.
Spectators can pause to keep the browser from updating, and they can use the rewind button to replay shots.
You can try out both the Recorder and the Viewer yourself. Click on the Launch Recorder Windower link first. Set the game up and use the passcode 'demo'. Once the Recorder window with the curling sheet is open, click on the Launch Viewer Window link below, and find your demo game in the list. Both the Recorder and the Viewer will launch in separate windows (or in separate tabs if you're using a tabbed browser).
Move stones and skips around in the Recorder, and click Send Data. See them automatically appear in the Viewer window.
